He's Coming Home!!!

Our whole family will be together next Saturday! The travel dates have been confirmed; Jim and I will head to Miami on Wednesday, fly to Haiti on Thursday morning and return to Miami with Asa Mackenley on Friday evening!! We'll stay there that night - - an evening alone together in the hotel will give us some time to rest and bond before driving back to our home on the Gulf Coast Saturday morning. We can't believe it's finally happening!

It Gets Better (Kind Of)...

I checked my e-mail this morning to find that Asa's visa was actually printed YESTERDAY!!! We don't need anything else. Not a single thing. We are DONE. The relief is indescribable. But... we won't be able to travel next week due to Carnival. It looks like we'll be heading down the first week of March.

We Interrupt This Blog...

To announce that Asa's visa was approved at an appointment which took place this morning! However, much of Haiti (including the US Consulate) closes to celebrate Carnival, so the actual visa probably won't be in-hand until later next week. I can't say for sure, but my best guess is that we will probably travel late next week or early the following week.

The extremely speedy visa appointment came as a complete shock. Praise the LORD, our son is coming home!!!

USCIS APPROVAL!!!

Asa now has immigration approval and our file is being sent to the consulate for a visa appointment. This should happen within the next week and the actual visa should be in hand a few days after that. We haven't received any word on travel dates. I'll be able to update a little more when I'm no longer in shock.

Missing My Littlest Valentine...

And wishing I could give him a HUGE smooch on his adorable face!!

Our file has been in the US immigration office for one work week. After two years, it's hard to believe we're really and truly down to the final step. We simply need our country to approve our son for a visa, then issue the visa. Praying, praying, praying....

This Is Not "The" News...

I've been waiting to post - but it is some news. We found out that our file will probably be submitted to the US immigration office tomorrow. We had really hoped it was already there but it was good to just get an update with some concrete information.

We are SO ready for our Asa to be home. His room has been ready for over a year so we haven't had to do much in that area. I've slowly been buying clothes and, when I picked a toothbrush for him, it totally made my day. Asa now has jammies to match Chloe and Camden (thank you, Erika!!) and a bag of gifts sits on the dresser from his friend Mya, who came home from the creche in December (thank you, Laura!!). My bags are filling up with donations for the orphanage from lots of generous people (like "multi-purpose ointment" from Mike & Tifanni - thank you!!). Now all we need is immigration approval, a visa and a travel date.

Also, the blog turns two years old today. Wow.
